Kayak Crabbing is wildly popular, fun and easy to do! Kayak Brinnon rents crab pots specifically designed for kayaks to catch your own Dungeness and Red Rock crab. Let us teach you how! All you need is a Department of Fish & Wildlife shellfish license and bait and we’ll provide a pot, line, buoy, crab measurer and some pointers. Bait can be purchased from the Brinnon General Store, Cove RV Park & Store, and McKay’s Shrimp and Crab Gear. Having the right type of bait, and enough of it, is pretty important if you want to maximize your catch. If you have questions about bait give us a call and we’ll point you in the right direction. Check out the videos below to see how easy kayak crabbing is!
Crabbing can also be done from a paddle board (SUP) as shown below. We have inside information on where the best places are to catch crab and can give you lots of tips to guide you. Crabbing in the Hood Canal can only be done during crabbing season which usually starts in mid June and runs through August but only on certain days, usually Thursday through Monday. So please call or check the WDFW website for details.
$15 first day
$5 each additional day
This price is per pot. Regulations allow 2 pots per person during crab harvest season.
Kayak crabbing can also be added to any tour during crab season at $25 per pot. Our Biologist/Guide will teach you how to catch your own crab from a kayak. You do not need your own license to learn how it’s done. However, if you would like to participate and take your crabs home a Dungeness Crab fishing license is required.
